KU holds on to Coach Self

This probably will be the last post about KU basketball for a while (you’re welcome, Ann). I can’t begin to explain how happy I was to hear that Coach Bill Self turned down what might have been a $6 million signing bonus and $3 million plus per year to return to his alma mater, Oklahoma State. Instead, he told media — and thousands of KU fans who have been sitting on the edge of their seats since the Jayhawks won the national championship Monday night in spectacular fashion — that he plans to stay at KU for the rest of his career.

With KU football’s first BCS appearance (and big win over Virginia Tech’s stellar defense) this year and KU basketball’s first national championship in 20 years and now Coach Self staying, I can honestly say that this has been the best year for KU sports in a long, long time. Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk.
